F.A.Q’s

How would I know which kit would be ideal for me?

The best way to determine this is by conducting a site survey to estimate the equipment and type of connection required for setting up the CCTV camera network. Contact us to fix an appointment with our technicians for the site survey.

What is a Megapixel? And what is the difference between 1 Megapixel and 2 Megapixel? And how does this impact my CCTV camera network?

In very simple terms, every picture or video frame is made up of tiny dots called pixels. 1 Megapixel equals 1 million pixels. 2 MP would equal 2 million pixels and so on. Therefore, higher the number of MP, the better would be the resolution. In order words, quality of the CCTV camera feed would be better. For more information Click Here to Watch the Video.

What type of CCTV cameras would we need?

A lot of factors go into choosing the right type of CCTV camera – connection type, area type, etc. Generally, DVR uses analogue cameras and NVR uses IP cameras. But not all IP cameras are compatible with the NVR.

What do you mean by DVR and NVR?

DVR, stands for Digital Video Recorder, is an electronic device that takes the unprocessed video as input from the CCTV cameras directly via cables and then processes and encodes it at the device itself.  All the cameras need to be connected via cables directly to the DVR for processing. This would mean, a lot of wiring… and a lot of time to install. NVR, stands for Network Video Recorder, is a software that takes the processed video as input from the WiFi network and streams it to be viewed collectively at the user’s end. The installation of this is easier since it is done using WiFi. However, since this is dependent on the internet connection, this would mean unstable networks and web connection dependency. If your internet is down, your entire CCTV system would be down.

What are the pros and cons of DVR and NVR? And which is better?

Honestly, there are equal weights of pros and cons on both sides that it is not possible to give one a proper preference. The choice is up to you based on your priorities, objectives and area in question. If you choose to go with DVR, you can expect a lower price and a stable connection but you will have to compromise on the flexibility of installation (depending on your site area) and recording quality.  If you choose to go with NVR, you can expect an easier, more flexible installation and better recording quality but you will have to compromise on the connection and price in comparison to the DVR.
